    6. Set the batter aside in a warm place for at least 10-12 hours until the batter ferments and rise well.
    7. Add salt to taste to the fermented batter and mix well.
    8. Now heat the idli steamer with enough water.
    9. Grease the idli plates lightly. Fill the moulds with batter.
    10. When the water begins to bubble and steam up, place the stand in the steamer. Cover and steam for at least 10 minutes on a medium high flame. Then remove the idli stand and set aside to cool down for 2-3 minutes.
    11. With the help of a spoon remove the idlis to a plate. Serve idli with a chutney and sambar.
