    Ingredients

    The ingredients needed to make Jackfruit Fritters or gaarige:

    1. Make ready 1 cup Raw rice
    2. Take 2 cups Ripe Jackfruit deseeded
    3. Prepare 1/4 cup Jaggery
    4. Get 1/2 cup Coconut grated
    5. Take 1/4 cup Roasted coconut bits
    6. Take 1 pinch Salt

    It is called as 'Kadgi/Chakko' in Konkani and widely used in Konkani cooking. Jackfruit appam or Jackfruit sweet paniyaram is called Gaarige in Tulu. One of the traditional Mangalorean dishes during the monsoon season. So tried it with the jackfruit left over after trying Jackfruit payasam.


    Instructions

    Steps to make Jackfruit Fritters or gaarige:

    1. Soak raw rice in water for 2 hours and drain.
    2. Grind soaked raw rice, jackfruit, jaggery and coconut grated to a thick paste without adding water.
    3. To this batter add roasted coconut bits and pinch of salt too and mix.
    4. Heat a kadai and pour oil for deep frying.
    5. Scoop out a tbsp of this thick batter and drop into the oil and fry them nicely till golden brown.
